It’s daybreak on Venice Beach and the sun targets the local pier for a hit of warmth and color. The weathered structure is suddenly transformed into art, light accentuating the etchings worked by the sea and the beautiful symmetry of its industrial design. In a few hours the same sun will bleach the cement pilings of color and the tide will swallow loudly the layers of ocean carvings. The desolate pier will become alive with human activity, and the artistry will evolve again.
Perfect place to take a photo from Elisa! Beautiful capture 🙂

Andy, thank you! The three hour time difference (earlier) makes it so much easier to get up before the sun…if I could only do that here on the East Coast!
Have a great day,
Elisa

Beautifully captured, Elisa! Love the contrasting colors of metal and what looks like etchings of gold on the pillars.

Thanks, Gracie! I do like the row of metal brackets along the top, they actually look pretty. Hope you are having a bit of a warm-up…still freezing here!

It’s another freezing day here too, but at least not as bad as yesterday. Oh and the snow forecast, has been pushed to tomorrow…LOL

There are so many great piers to visit here on the west coast. Seems almost every beach town has one. There are old, run down piers, new concrete structures, older yet solid wood piers, all kinds of them and each interesting in their own right. Great shots, Elisa. Thanks for reminding me how lucky I am to live so close to them.

Barney, I knew you lived out west somewhere, but I didn’t realize how close you live to the coast. The western edge of our country is beautiful from top to bottom and I envy you and your wife being in the thick of it! Thanks for stopping by and have a great Wednesday.

It’s so worth waiting for one of your posts, Elisa! The light and colour in this are wonderful. Did you ‘tinker’ with it much? The clips and fastenings on the pier look so crisp.

Nice to know my posts are worth waiting for….sometimes I get anxious thinking I’ve waited too long, and appreciate so much the thought! I have a pretty simple routine for my photographs. I upload them all to iPhoto and when I choose a shot to edit, I press the “enhance” icon. IPhoto does a pretty good job of correcting any issues that my unpracticed eye can see, and I’m usually happy with the result. Sometimes I’ll sharpen or play with the contrast. I did recently download Lightroom, but I’m not quite sure how to use most of the functions. What I do like is that is makes it easy to resize the image so it loads faster!
Take care, Jo!

Oh how I love Venice Beach and everything odd, quirky, and photographable about it. It is this place where the muscle on the beach wrestles the muscle of the ocean…tanned piers and tanned bodies. The ocean always wins, right? Nice photo!

Very pretty capture. One of the many advantages of being an early riser.
BTW, if you were to get a tat, you would need to rename the blog to “Elisa With A Tat”. 🙂

If only I were (an early riser) maybe coffee would help. Our daughter has made subtle hints over the years that she’s going to get a tattoo. My replay, “Great, I’ll go with you and get one too!” Stops her right in her tracks! A gamble, I know. 🙂

Tara came close to getting a tattoo, but mom said absolutely not. So, the only ones who have tattoos are the horses – its their ID.

The sunrise on the pilings is gorgeous, isn’t it! This light is perfect. What are you doing wandering around at sunrise? I’d never see this pier in all of its glory if I had to rise at daybreak… Chuckle… Your yummy picture of it is an entirely satisfactory view for me! 😉

7:00 am is 10:00 am in Atlanta, I can’t not be up at that point! I have to admit that it’s refreshing to be up in the quiet of the dawn, you’d think it would motivate me to try it once in a while, wouldn’t you? It’s just so darned hard, but your compliment is motivating. Thanks, George!
